A business born out of friendship

McCallum & Tritton Funeral Directors in Liverpool

In September 1952 Douglas McCallum and Charles Tritton formed a lifetime business partnership. They were close friends prior to the outbreak of world war two, during their apprenticeships as motor mechanics at the garage of J.B.Hepburn at Bridge Road, Blundellsands. Douglas served his time in the army during the war based in the Dodecanese. Charles did his national service in Germany from 1946-1948.

When re-united, Charles and Douglas completed their qualifications as mechanics and decided to become self-employed.

Upon the retirement of Eileen and Kevin Tritton the company is now run by Andrew Stones who’s 42 years with the company resulted in him becoming a partner in 2011 and he continues to maintain the principles which were set up by Charlie, Douglas and Eileen when the business was set up. Andrew is ably assisted by qualified funeral directors David Bray and Ainsley Ottley.

Conducting funerals since 1953

As their business progressed they added limousine hire to their interests and in 1953 conducted their first funeral.

In the ensuing years, offices with chapels of repose were established in Crosby and Bootle. These continue to serve the people of North Merseyside and further afield.

The company have conducted many high profile funerals including the funeral of the late Most Reverend Archbishop Derek Warlock in February 1996.

The current premises are situated in Mersey View, Brighton-le-Sands with private chapels of repose in the adjoining building in Holden Road East and also premises at 510 Stanley Road, Bootle. We are proud to accept pre-paid funeral plans.
